Thank you for stopping by to check on Joann. We hope this page is useful, and we will try to keep it as up-to-date as possible.

Joann tries to make 2 visits a day to Benedictine Hospital to see Larissa, and she requires a lot of rest. We ask that anyone intending to visit please contact Joann or Jim ahead of time to coordinate with those activities.

Lowell Thing has returned from vacation, and his first feature article is a story on Ronald McDonald House of Albany. It was home for Jim for 8 nights before Joann was discharged, and for Joann and Jim together, 17 nights.

How she is:

Jim asked Joann the other day if he could publish a baldy photo. Joann said, "I guess it's okay. I'll even give you some quotes."

Joann is starting the second week of her second cycle of Taxol and carboplatin. The upcoming week is when her white blood cell will be at their lowest. Jim has been giving her Neupigen injections since Sunday evening. She will have blood work done this afternoon.

Joann had an appointment with Dr. Lefkowitz on Wednesday afternoon. Her incision wound is healing, and Jim is to continue the 3x-a-day irrigation. They will see Dr. Lefkowitz again in two weeks.

Joann is doing a super job of bottle-feeding Larissa.

About baby Larissa:

  • Larissa continues to do very well. The nurses have taken to putting a long-sleeved gown under her outfits, with the sleeve-ends capped, to thwart her from pulling out her feeding tube. Expect to read any day though, that she is on full bottle-feed and doesn't need the feeding tube.

She continues to feed and grow (a little). She now weighs 3lb. 14 oz. (1760 grams for you metric freaks) and is gaining about an ounce a day.

We will archive email to Larissa at larissa@iswis.com

    What about Jim?father_child1.jpg

Jim totally unbiased opinion is that he has a beautiful wife, with a wonderful smile, and a very pretty baby daughter.

Jim asks that you continue your prayers and positive thoughts. We can see a light ahead - the tunnel seems to be still long. Thanks to all.

    And Blacky?blky2.jpg

Blacky arrived home from his vacation at the farm on Spillway Road on Saturday afternoon. No more cats in the house to chase. Thanks to Rosmarie Shaughnessy for taking good care of him.
